Our School Uniform
Peases West Academy has high expectations of its pupils not just in terms of their educational achievements but also in respect of their behaviour and personal presentation.
This fosters a feeling of belonging to our community, and helps children feel equal to each other. The Academy Council recognises that there may be a diversity of cultures and religions represented amongst the pupils of the school and will take a sensitive and respectful approach when this affects dress requirements. Priority will, however, be given to health and safety, the education and wellbeing of pupils and other similar considerations.
We believe that physical education (P.E.) and activity is vital as part of children’s all-round development, enabling them to pursue happy, healthy and active lives. We encourage all children to engage and succeed in a variety of sports and fitness activities in school, to understand the importance of health and fitness as a fundamental life skill and to experience the benefits of social interaction, teamwork and cooperation. We aim to encourage and support our children to develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities and have healthy, active futures.
For this reason, we want children to be prepared for the physical demands of the school day, from active breakfast club and after school clubs, to Sports Crew led lunch and breaktime clubs, outdoor learning and playtimes and P.E. lessons. Our uniform expectations support our ‘active’ school day, so that children are ready to access all physical activity opportunities safely, and in practical, comfortable and affordable clothing.
Our core ‘active uniform’ items are:
- Black trainers
- Black joggers or tracksuit bottoms/black leggings/black shorts/skorts
- White T shirt (with or without school logo)
- Black jumper or hoodie
- Plain socks (black/white/grey)
Children may also wear:
- Black t-shirt
- In the warmer months, children may choose to wear black and white pinafore dresses/skirts

School has a range of ‘pre loved’ uniform items in school and welcomes donations of uniform in good condition.
We recommend that you label everything in either fabric pens or that you stick/sew in fabric labels.
If your child is unable to tie their own laces, we recommend you choose shoes with Velcro, as in an emergency (i.e. fire alarm etc) children are able to put shoes on quickly. Reception and Nursery children spend a lot of time outside so wellies are also recommended.
