How is English taught?

Phonics: We use Sounds-Write, to teach early reading and phonics, teaching explicitly the essential phonemic awareness skills, conceptual knowledge, and code knowledge needed for children to learn to read and spell.

Handwriting: We use Nelson Handwriting throughout school to help children develop a confident and legible writing style.

Reading comprehension and writing: We teach every reading comprehension and writing through literature that inspires. We focus on diverse stories and important themes, and immersive classroom experiences. Please see long term plan below:
